Default Just Got Your BB & Not Sure Where To Begin? READ THIS!

Just got your Blackberry and not sure where to begin? Read this thread, it’ll be your perfect start!

Now that you’ve got the toy, lets get down to business

1. Become a registered user at eVeek!
It's free and takes less than a minute. There's a ton of useful info that you can find here as well as 1000's of free Blackberry downloads! making us the coolest BB community out there he he! So register if you haven't done so already.

2. Get a data plan!
Running at about $19.99 for TMO & $29.99 for AT&T it's the best thing you can possibly do for your phone! Trust me...within a month or two, you'll realize that a BlackBerry without internet capabilities is just a fancy phone with really cool calling, texting, and media capabilities Don't pay $300 or more for just another phone...

3. Buy a Case
This will help keep your BlackBerry nice and clean and increase resale value I dont care where you work and how clean you are! Sooner or later you're either going to drop something on your phone or someone will drop something on it. The price is worth it! You'll thank me later

Wondering if you should get insurance? My answer is NO if you get a protective case (a little opinion of mine)

4. Find the latest Operating System from your carrier and upgrade your phone.
There are a lot of bugs out there in the older versions, so u always HAVE TO keep your phone up to date to make sure it runs nice and smooth. Newer version usually have cooler features as well

5. Get a MicroSd Card (either 1GB or 2GB should be fine)
Most people can't live with out one. I mean, I've got movies, music, pictures and a lot of crazy stuff one mine. You might also need a free BlackBerry Converter to convert your video/audi files or the free SUPER C program so that you can play they files on your phone. Also, take a look at the supported SD Card sizes. (If you need help with running any of these two applications, just start a new thread and we'll be right there in no time )

6. Ringtones/Wallpapers.
You're probably going to want to fill up that MicroSD card right? Then check out our ringtones and the wallpaper section of course! You'll be amazed at what you'll find out there for no cost at all

7. Applications.
Ok now you're ready for some "must have" applications he he I find myself using Google Maps, Yahoo Go, JiveTalk Messenger & ColorPearl almost all the time! They can all be found in our Application Downloads section. Also check out the eVeek Store for all other BlackBerry software you might need.

8. Themes! And now, we're talking "Themes" YEAH! Now this is the part where you get to "pimp" your BlackBerry With an eVeek theme you'll be getting everyone's attention everywhere you go! The good news is that we add new themes every week so check back often to make sure you've got the latest and the greatest. If you need help on how to install and run the themes, check out this page and if you still have questions, we'll be here all day

Ok, so now you've got the ringtones, wallpapers, themes, and everything is setup...Awesome! But there is one last VERY important step...

9. Backup your phone!
One last thing before u can kick back and relax...Back up your info! What this process will do is make a small file on your computer that will save a copy of every single peace of information and data on your phone. It's extremely useful incase your Operating System dies Remember, altough these are Smart phones stuff happens!! Whenever something goes wrong, you can always restore your device using that back up file you prepared ahead of time! arty:

To back up your info: Open Desktop manager and connect your device. Click on "Back Up/Restore" icon and choose "Back up" then locate the folder on your PC where u want to save the file and continue. I would recommend restoring your data at least once every 2 weeks.

And that's it folks you are all set up!

U should also take a look at the keyboard shortcut threads (located at each phone models forum) and dont forget to watch for eVeek news and updates as well as BlackBerry Global news!

Now you're an official Crackberry err...BlackBerry addict muwahaha!!!!!

Enjoy!

I bought my BB 3 days ago and since then I've been trying to change the wallpaper...

What's usually simple in other devices seem so difficult on BB. Nice that I've found this forum. Hope this helps...
